Coming to a new country and wanting to see all the amazing sights they have to offer is nothing new, but sometimes there are hundreds of tour companies and it’s difficult to know which tour to trust and which not to. Also there can be so many variations of tours with hidden costs and sometimes the information provided isn’t very clear to the customer.

Here we will share some tips on how to go about booking a tour when arriving in Croatia to ensure a smooth and enjoyable process.

When to Travel to Croatia

Croatia has quite a lengthy tourist season, especially along the Dalmatian coast. Tourist season generally runs from May through September and if you enjoy the shoulder seasons, April and October are definitely still busy enough to enjoy yourself and score a good deal on tours alike. The Dalmatian coast has plenty of sunshine, not sure if it's a fact but we’ve heard that it only rains around 40 days per year in Split! No matter when you go, you are almost certain to have a few days full of sunshine. Travelling during the winter means you are more likely to experience the famous Bura wind, which is a strong wind that comes down from the mountains and over many of the southern Croatian and Adriatic islands.

Let’s be honest, a lot of the tours on offer worldwide are generally the same as the one next door, maybe with a slight twist or in some cases the tour is done in a reverse itinerary to avoid the crowds, a great option in our opinion. But generally speaking you’ll find that most tour companies offer pretty much a copy and paste of their neighbours. It is definitely worth trying to bargain and fish around at all the options you can before locking in a tour, especially if it isn’t the high season when the tours are necessarily likely to sell out in advance.

Checking the reviews of tours via websites like Google, TripAdvisor and others is also a good way to figure out the best tour suited. Reputable brands will have many reviews and sometimes more reviews is better than the actual rating itself, proving that a company has been reliable for a certain amount of years is also important.
